CRI DU CHAT AWARENESS DAY
This year Cri du Chat Awareness Week is from May 1st to May 15th, and Cri du Chat Awareness Day is on Friday, May 5th.
We are going to celebrate Cri du Chat Awareness Day at St. Mark Catholic School on Thursday, May 4th.
Each year the 5p- Society promotes a week of international awareness of 5P- Syndrome, or Cri du Chat. The purpose of this week is to raise awareness and encourage support of those with the Cri du Chat. It also marks the 59th year of the finding of Cri du Chat Syndrome by Dr. Jerome Lejeune. All students will receive a sticker and an individually wrapped candy stick on Thursday, May 4th. Let your child’s classroom teacher know if he/she has any food allergies or restrictions prior to Thursday, May 4th. Finally, have your child/children wear their stripy socks on Thursday, May 4th if they have them – they can wear on sock long and one short to represent the complete and deleted chromosome.
We have a student in Grade 3 at the school that has Cri du Chat. The Wheaton Family thanks you for your support. If you have any questions regarding this syndrome, you may contact Chris Wheaton at kraymr@gmail.com
