Eco Club Clothing Drive

Dear St Mark families,

The Eco Club will be running a Clothing and Stuffy Drive from Monday December 11 to Wednesday December 20.  With Christmas just around the corner, many people are suffering. Let’s make room in our closets by donating gently used clothing and stuffies, and the Eco Club will make sure that all the donations go to those in need, while recycling at the same time.  We accept shirts, pants, hoodies, dresses, t-shirts, hats and mitts.  Items not included in this drive are socks, shoes, boots, coats and undergarments.  Thank you for all your support to help those in need.

Sheltering Hearts Tiny Home Fundraiser

Message RE Sheltering Hearts Tiny Home Fundraiser

From November 1, 2023 – November 30, 2023, all schools within the Waterloo Catholic District

are invited to raise funds to help battle homelessness in the region, as part of our Sheltering

Hearts: A Home for Everyone fundraiser. Tiny homes have been placed on each of our

secondary school properties, giving students the opportunity to visualize the cause that they are

raising money for.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to A Better Tent City (Kitchener-Waterloo) and The

Bridges (Cambridge). Donations are made easy through a QR code, which will be placed

directly on the tiny homes. The poster (attached this email) will also feature the QR code.

Those interested in donating will scan the QR code and be taken directly to SchoolCash Online. Here

they can select which of the two organizations they wish to donate to and can request a tax

receipt for donations over $50.00.

Aside from working to provide shelter for underhoused members of our communities, these

fundraising efforts will also align with our Catholic Social Teachings, which speak to charitable

giving and help foster a society that reflects the principles of justice, compassion, and love for

all, particularly the least fortunate among us.

Please join us in spreading the word throughout your school community to support this worthy

cause.

Thank you for your consideration.

Message from our Catholic School Advisory Council

The St. Mark School Council would like to remind you that we are always seeking new members! For more information about School Council, meeting dates, and more, click HERE.

Recently, School Council voted to support a leadership trip for students in grades 6-8 who volunteered their time to be part of a leadership opportunity at Adentureworks in Ancaster, Ontario on October 18th.  This trip included valuable leadership skills training, team building and more for our students! Our school will benefit from their participation in this leadership opportunity with several activities and in particular our Intramural Program.

A friendly reminder that there are lots of ways to help support the school all year long with things you are likely already doing! For example, if you’re out shopping for winter boots, consider shopping at Factory Shoe and mentioning the school, they will donate $5 back to the school on purchases of $35 or more! For more information, please check out our flyer HERE.
